MINUTES OF COMMITTEE MEETING (11/10/2007)

HELD 11^TH OCTOBER 2007 5.30PM AT ANGLICAN HALL

1.    Present:   Malcolm Balch, Bob Johnson, Ann Barry, Trevor Cooper, Vic Pennisi, John Boucher, Dee Booth, Anne Lindsay, Sue Johnson

2.    Apologies:        Michael Boucher

3.    Minutes:   Moved John Boucher  “That minutes as circulated be received as a true and correct record of the meeting”.

        Seconded Trevor Cooper.              Carried.

4.    Matters arising:

        4.1.   No response from Billy Moore yet.

        4.2.   Sponsor letters to Landmark, Elders, Sam Giacca, Stanthorpe Rural, Lindsay Rural, Deveneys (Favap), Big Apple

        4.3.   Stanthorpe’s iconic status:

        Council has given tacit approval to the idea.

        Trevor to meet with National Parks next week.

        4.4.   Channel 7:  2 adverts is OK.

        Malcolm et al to meet with production team next week.

        Timing is still uncertain, depending on timing of plebiscite.

        Wording to reflect ‘FORCED’ amalgamations, our democratic right and the importance of voting.

        4.5.   Signs are going up everywhere.

        Jazz in the Vineyards - not possible to use this venue for info.

        4.6.   Flyers – Council will mail out flyers – Trevor is reference point for this.

        We will still mail one out too, promoting the “NO” vote.

        4.7.   Motorcade:

        Signatures on tautliner (cf petition). Do this in supermarket carparks?

5.    Other business:

        5.1.   Public meeting to be held 28^th October at 2pm.

        John Boucher to check on availability of Civic Centre, otherwise Exhibition Centre at showgrounds.

        Malcolm to contact Bruce Scott to be main speaker.

        Other speakers as per dinner at Ballandean.

        John suggested attempting to contact Dr Will Twycross, Mansfield Medical Centre, Victoria, who led the deamalgamation campaign of Benalla and Mansfield – possible speaker.
